Learnt a few things today. The bikes are everything we hoped for. Ended up having a bit of a pootle around town while we come to grips with riding on the wrong side of the road. We really needed to keep the focus up. Trying to look in all directions at the same time whilst astride something that has more power than the space shuttle is just the ticket for brewing the old tension headache. You just know if you sneeze and accidentally blip the throttle you will be sitting in the middle of the road with just a smoking black tyre smear in front of you where the bike used to be.
Actually just as I was doing this blog Tom popped in and took us for the most amazing christening ride into the mountains behind Santa Cruz. Tight little roads through awesome redwood forests(proper giant ones). Up on the pegs it was just beautiful. Then long sweepers back to town with the sun setting over the sea. Both Dave and I are sooo stoked with the bikes. very rideable so all loved ones don't panic, the bike is a pussycat when you want it to be.
Speaking of Dave. I managed to test his patience today. You might recall the missing box ( which still hasn't arrived). Well Dave phoned and emailed half the planet hunting the box yesterday. Tracy, a very helpful lady promised to phone if she heard anything, which she duly did at 7 am this morning. I thought it was the alarm and so switched off the phone. When I realised my mistake I phoned back , no reply. Dave took it well that his own team let him down and we did eventually get hold of her. Box in china by way. Should get it Monday.
Having a great time. Going riding with Tom tomorrow and Sunday, pretty sure it will be good. He has shown us some amazing pics of where he's been.
Anyway I'll sign off with some pics of first ride today and a pic of Dave and Tom on summit road above Santa Cruz earlier this evening.
I could tell you the story of how it took 20 minutes to get fuel in the bikes today and eventually we were helped by the young blonde lass but I won't. Dumb and Dumber...
