Day 4

I thought there might not be an update tonight. A yacht down at the marina sailed into the power lines and blew the local transformer. Huge bang. Being South African I dived under the bed and lay there quivering until Dave told me to stop being a pansy.
Anyway, now we have power back and therefore wifi.
We did have the opportunity to have a romantic dinner of steak, spuds, raw veggies and salad in the half light.
At least the cooking job is gas.
So, riveting stuff. Funny, when I'm at home and the power goes out I don't feel the need to put that info on the net so not sure why it's important now.
We got to ride with some really nice people today. Tom is an excellent tour guide and took us to some proper redwoods where we could walk amongst them. I love trees and in the early morning with the sun filtering through it was quite spiritual. A real highlight for me. I tried a panorama shot in the woods but , at least on the iPhone it just doesn't do it justice.
If anyone is interested it was Big basin redwoods reserve.
Today is Sunday here and so we went to some kind of gathering place of folksy cafe etc. about a million bikes there including a cool old Indian - worlds slowest Indian version. See pic. Looks cool but sounds like a piece of shit.
They had the moto GP race on telly this morning and so after lunch all the sports bikes came out to play. Had to be seen to be believed. Streets dripping with Latino testosterone. I should have taken some surreptitious pics but was a but scared.
Anyway, we did some more great riding and then went to Grants house where the local guys tucked into a few drinks while Dave had one if his mid conversation power naps.
We didn't do the dirt riding I had hoped for but there will be no shortage of that later. All in all another good day.
Fingers crossed our box arrives tomorrow or we will have to start changing plans.
Here's some pics, forest, skyline over San Fransisco bay, that Indian oh and I forgot, Grant appears to be Daves long lost twin.

  1. That good looking guy keeps appearing in the photos with you!
I am envious of the blue skies and dry grass, it can't stop raining here. Would be ok if for a trip to Kurtau where wet = fun, not so great for watching soccer, mowing the lawns, working etc etc.
I went to see the giant Redwoods near San Fran a few years ago, they really are amazing so understand what you mean.
Blog is going really well, keep it up.
