One of the nice things about doing a trip like this is that you have the mental freedom to think about things. Not worrying about the day job and only having to care for yourself at night means you have the time and space to ponder things. Life and the universe. What does it all mean. What is our role here?
Well, while undergoing that process today in what was a quiet day I came to some deeper conclusions.
The first is that Dave and I look like Like Skywalker and Han Solo when we are all kitted up. Especially when we stand next to my white bike which looks very much like something out of Star Wars. I shall get a picture taken so that you readers may also understand.
Less charitable observers might think we look like some kind of broke back mountain adventure riding pair. Is it possible to look too good when trying to be rugged? These are deep thoughts.
The other thing I have noticed is that I look more and more like I am wearing a hedgehog on my head. My unfortunate travel cut is growing beautifully into a, well, hedgehog.
Cool.
Dave and I have had plenty of time to sort out the worlds problems and had a good session today. If anybody needs to know just give us a call. Mr Obama, we are available if required.
So, still no box. Apparently guaranteed to be here tomorrow. We shall see. If that's the case we leave here Thursday for Yosemite. I tried to panic and suggested we leave tomorrow afternoon but my various wiser and slightly older companions at the moment said " why rush?". True.
I want to see Yosemite in the daylight and hope to stand at the base of El Capitan which cannot be rushed.
A last thing that will cause a bit of mirth in the McMillan household is that we are going to have a farewell dinner at a Mexican restaurant tomorrow.
The comfort zone must be challenged...
No new pics today. The grocery shopping trip didn't meet the threshold for epic adventure riding.
I shall trawl through my pics for something interesting. My best pic is of Dave styling and I took it on HD so the file is too big to upload. Bugger.
Scraped the barrel. Another bike pic next to a beautiful mountain stream yesterday. The water had that hint of blue you get on the South Island rivers. Lovely. Take my word for it.
