Day 3

If anybody is feeling sorry for us because of the missing box - dont. What am I saying, I doubt that anybody is anyway and quite right too. We are currently living the California summer dream. Nice hot days, but not too hot. Cruising the inland redwoods this afternoon followed by a long stretch back down the coast from the north. Quite windy so nice to watch the wind and kite surfers. I was pleased with how the bike handled the wind as that big broad side could have had us doing our own bit of kite surfing!
I have to say my first impressions of the states are really good. You do hear it but Dave and I have been very impressed how polite everyone is and those that we are spending time with are just downright awesome. Tom would have to take a bow as he has just been an excellent host and tour guide.
The other thing that is remarkable is how courteous the drivers are. Dave keeps running 4 way stop streets and they just smile and wave! Maybe they can tell he is a Kiwi.
Funny for a country where people are so kind face to face they have such a penchant for shooting each other. I don't watch much news but every day someone here in the bay area shoots some one else. Really guys, some conflict resolution skills please.
Tomorrow is our first big day on the bikes. Into a national park and a walk amongst the Redwoods (if you haven't noticed I like trees, Dave as well). Start 7 am. I think our first off road day as well, or at least some of it. Sand I am told. Can't cross deserts if you can't ride sand so looking forward to the challenge.
Happily of to dinner at an Argentinian restaurant tonight. Actuall we have been pretty good with home cooked meals. I have surprised Dave with my culinary skills. Not just a pretty face with a bald sunburnt head then (Jen you did warn me).
